migrating from Windows 7 to OSX-El Cap

I used a thumb drive to transfer the latest saved .gnucash data file from my old Win 7 machine to a new Gnucash build on a MacBook Air running OS X-El Cap. Accounts and sub account labels transferred properly but values for all accounts showed zero amounts and all transaction history was missing. Version of Gnwucash on the windows machine is 2.6.3 and the new build on the Mac is 2.6.13

On the clean Mac build, I used the Open button to navigate to and select the gnu cash file on the thumb drive.

Earlier attempts using the Export and Import features on the respective builds resulted in errors and 0 files installed.

Any idea on how I can move the last three years of transactions from Windows build to OS-X build?
