Mac users have a huge problem, I think! Gnucash won't open anything now

Personally, while there isn't a simpler way do as they say: Open GnuCash
normally, and go to the menus in GnuCash and tell it to open the files
you want, but don't user double-click in file explorer.

As a further suggestions: I would recommend you to stay with GnuCash,
because it's way better than others because it's free/libre software (as
in freedom, not price).

It means that we, as society, can exercise collective control over our
computing. So, perhaps there might be some people who might be able to
improve the issue.

My suggestions are:

a. Look at phone listings or places where there is "accounting software
   developer" or "finance software developer" organization. Then ask
   them if they do customizations to programs in "C language" for macOS
   users, if they say so, or if they ask which program it is, tell them
   it's GnuCash. This helps local organizations and people in your city
   to make a living by contributing to free/libre software. In this case
   however, some organizations might overlook some issues that
   free/libre software cares to look for, thus these organizations might
   cause other issues later.

b. Hire someone directly related to GnuCash development, so he can make
   this happen, instead of focusing on other unrelated work. This helps
   in same deal as (a) and is more error-proof.

c. Look for local "hackerspaces" or better yet, local LibrePlanet
   Groups, they might know someone to do what you want to. Some of these
   might even do it gratis.

d. Look for local free/libre software events, they might know some
   person to do what is wanted. Some of these might even do it gratis.

e. Wait around, people will eventually come up with some solution. This
   is not recommended in most cases because, finantialy/"accountingly"
   speaking, although society can acquire free/libre software without
   paying (gratis), free/libre software has costs associated with
   maintainance (for the community around it) and adaptation (for the
   community around it and for the average users).

I'm not a macOS user, but I do hope this issue can be fixed in a
friendly way. But please, don't give away your freedom just for the sake
of convenience.
