David,

   Looking at the source code in the business-reports subdirectory I learned that
GnuCash is written in Guile. This explains why extensions and custom reports
use the same language.

   Unfortunately, I don't know guile. I could handle C, Python, R, perhaps
some FORTRAN or elisp, but not any scheme implementation. So I can't help
make the UIs consistent in appearance.
