Strange problem with transaction editing auto-complete

Hi Colin,

maybe the 3 attached images help explain.

Press e  (1.png)
Press x (2.png)
Press : (3.png)


these are all individual key presses, then stop, switch to take screen grab, 
save image, back to GC and type.

I did 4 or 5 trial txns in this sequence, each one was different in the way it 
behaved, varying from not showing the glitch at all and getting 4 levels down 
the tree to this go that failed after 2 key presses...
