How many people have fiscal years which are different than a calendar year, and what dates are they?

Hi Doug,

Me for one - and probably most of the UK. Our Tax Year is officially April 6 -
April 5 (don't ask. historical reasons involving a certain 16th Century King
who fell out with the Pope about divorces, remarrying and the merits of
beheading)

However, the authorities allow individuals to move that to April1 - Mar31, no
questions asked.

Companies can use any period start date, but you're not supposed to move it
around year to year!

I use Mar 31 as my year end wherever possible, and try to avoid transactions
during the first few days of April!

Maf.
