How many people have fiscal years which are different than a calendar year, and what dates are they?

More common than you think. This is not just for different countries.
Here in the US, have you not noticed on the top of your income tax form
"for the year (the usual Jan 1st-Dec 31st) or fiscal year .......... ".
Quite common for businesses and organizations to have a fiscal year not
coinciding with the calendar year but even individuals might have good
reason to do this.
Suppose you were an individual whose main business was a B&B in a winter
sports area. Or you were a skiing instructor. Surely you would want your
books to represent the year by SEASON and not split at Dec 31st.
