I’ve copied and pasted these into the necessary locations and tried to open one of the gnu cash documents that I saved but to no avail. Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong? Thanks

If you tried to open it by double clicking on the document, GnuCash doesn't know how to do that. You have to open GnuCash and use File>Open.

OTOH, if you put your documents in the same path that they were in before, GnuCash will find the last one you opened by itself.
