[GNC] Updating Gnucash problem

Hello
Can anyone advise how to fix this problem I have after trying
unsuccessfully to update to a more recent version of Gnucash?
Environment Windows 10. Existing Gnucash 2.6.6 2015-03.30. Tried to instal
version 3.3 - after setting restore point. Update appeared successful but
it would not work - error message appeared about not found file. I restored
system prior to restore point. All my program files are now the old
versions. When I start gnucash, the initial screen appears indicating it is
loading but then disappears and nothing else happens and no error mesage.
The program is seen as running in Task Manager but is doing nothing.
How can I get it working again?
Any advice much appreciated.
