..also I looked all over online and didn't find anyone else discussion
this exact issue. I'm wondering if I should just reinstall the current
version, or install a newer version, or install the version I have on my
other computer.
Be Well,

Hello David and David,

The GnuCash data file is located in a Veracrypt volume. I never keep myfinancial files outside of an encrypted volume. Of course I'm only
trying to open it when the volume is decrypted/mounted. When I look at
the data file's properties, it says I'm the owner of it. If I try to
open the file from GnuCash, or if I click to open it, it still fails thesame way, claiming a permission issue. But any other file in my mountedvolume can open just fine: LibreOffice files, etc.
It looks to me like the problem is that this version of GnuCash doesn'twork with mounted volumes. Perhaps I should reinstall GnuCash, or
install a different version.
Be Well,

Scott

There could be several problems, and you may need to do some research
tofigure out which you are having and how to work around it.
First, are you able to open and mount the Veracrypt volume. You will
needto have the Veracrypt program installed and running and have your
Veracryptkey to succeed with that part. Second, some programs have
trouble workingwith network shared resources and others do not in
Ubuntu. Youmay need touse your Files utility to navigate to the data file on the
Veracrypt Volumeand double click the filename to open the file.

There are more possibilities, but those are the first things to try.

Good Luck.
