The 3.3 ones probably want newer / different dependent libraries.  Such is 
"normal" in the Linux world.  I'm still using 2.4.15 on my CentOS 6 machines 
(really old library versions).  It does what I need and when I upgrade to 
CentOS 7, I'll also upgrade to a newer GnuCash...
