>From a user perspective, it would seem logical (almost expected) that if they select Printable Invoice, and there is a Printable Invoice config, then that is loaded. Any other configs would require manual loading.
However, I completely understand where you are coming from, and hopefully this can move up the priority list soon.

It looks straightforward until you try to implement it in the gnucash code
base ;)
For starters, there is no such concept as a standard config in the way you are
considering it. There is a standard config, but that's the untweaked report.
You have saved a tweaked version, which is hence not standard. You also assume
that such a saved report should always be considered the default. That may not
be the case as one can save multiple configurations based on the same report.
Which one would be standard in that case ?
This is just to illustrate the challenges that still have to be resolved to
get this working. It's not impossible, just not straightforward either.
It's something I intended to implement at some point. Unfortunately other more
pressing matters have cropped up pushing this down on my to do list. I hope to
revisit it but I really can't give a time estimate. Sorry.
