[GNC] Odd Error

Chris,

Could you explain what the error is telling me with regard to option 7 and option 2? Perhaps the error might be refactored to give the user a little more context? Like, maybe to say which option is in play?

Furthermore, I'm not sure what you're asking me to provide. Do you want the entire section of saved-reports.2-8 for this report? I imagine I could locate that...

This warning originates from planned upgrades to options.

If a new date option eg report date "next Easter" is created, the saved options will try store its representation, and an older version cannot understand it. This error message is meant to handle whereby previously it would crash. I'm not sure why it would trigger when upgrading version.

To help investigate please feel free to share the relevant saved-reports section... I am sure there's no sensitive data within an asset piechart saved-report.

Hello,

I’m a longtime user on the Mac, now transitioning over to a PC.

I copied over my various settings files (alas! Account colors are not among these!) and saved reports files. Gnucash fires up, loads my data, and the “Saved reports configurations” are listed.

However, when I try to run one of these reports, I get the following odd error:

“This report was saved using a later version of GnuCash. One of the newer multifunction options ‘7’ is not available, fallback to option ‘2’.”

This error repeats numerous times (I lost count), after which the report loads.

I have no idea which option was using ‘7’, and I do not know what fallback option ‘2’ is.

Interestingly, the windows version in which this error occurs is 3.5. The Mac version I had previously was (I believe) 3.4. So, I have a difficult time understanding how this report can have been created in a *later* version of GnuCash.

Any insight would be welcome. For fullest clarity, the custom report is based on the Asset Piechart report.

TIA,
David
