Certainly, there may be special cases where you need to have worksheets/tabs in separate files. This is not a common use case, but not entirely out of the ordinary either, especially in a multi-user environment.
Most spreadsheet applications can handle 65K+ individual sheets/tabs. If there is no special or overriding reason for them to be in separate files, life is certainly easier if they are all in one. (most users do not realize this)
