That makes sense, David and John. Thanks. According to this list Ubuntu 20 supports Gnucash 3.8

Are there any major advantages and improvements to versions 3 and 4?

Unfortunately, the only listing there for 3.8 is: gnucash-docs (3.8-1) [universe] Documentation for gnucash, a personal finance tracking program
which is the documentation.  I wish it was the newer version as I'm on a derivative of ubuntu.
