Just to note, even though you have archived the data file at a given point in
time, you may lose access to any Saved Reports in future if you no longer
keep the same .gnucash folder or if you delete any reports from the
currently-running version of Gnucash. 

In other words, reports are stored separately from the financial data file
and not as part of it.

For most users it is probably sufficient to just make PDF copies of any
important reports when you archive the data file.
