Somebody here using Mac will need to help you with that << but it is 
less a gnucash thing than basic "how to use your chosen OS"

The reason you were asked is because the first step in determining what 
your problem might be is to see if you DO have gnucash installed that 
can be run. If so, then it is just a problem getting your "launcher" to 
be able to do it for you. Execution from the command line is more basic. 
In the old, old days, you only had a terminal/command line, no fancy 
user friendly "launcher"
