Frank,

I'm all for removing Appendix D from the Guide, since the UK entry is the only one there. But then, you knew I'd say that.

Welcome here!
The usual place for such questions is the gnucash-devel list, but
perhaps other readers have also the desire to improve their templates.
So let's keep it for now here.

> I can't find any reference to the UK VAT template on the wiki (only a mention of it in the Tutorial and Concepts Guide as "An ancient example" and there are some discrepancies between the described account tree and the template).

Perhaps we should remove it from the docs or make more clear that it is
only a demo?

> On the On the Account Hierarchy Template wiki page under Clean Up (https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Account_Hierarchy_Template#Clean_up) there is a reference to "ask the maintainers". Can some one point me in the direction of the maintainers of this template?

Because it is a localization task, I feel responsible for the templates
in general. The UK VAT template existed before I joined the project and
got in that time only general formal maintenance, no updates of content.

The only GB specific, probably related page in the wiki is
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GB/PAS_76

Perhaps also Chris can help you with his knowledge about anglo-saxon tax
report rules.

> Or should I just submit suggested alterations via Bugzilla?

That is OK, but as for us it is less work you should try to start with
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Simple_Pull_Request

> I am happy to help generally with the en-GB localisations and can probably manage the XML but GitHub is a bit daunting.

The starting point then probably should be a britsch version of
https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/gnucash/glossary/en/
Let me know, if it is desired.
