For what it's worth, users should also know that this method establishes a new date of acquisition for the shares, which may affect short term versus long term capital gains calculations if the user isn't careful.

Hi Peter-

This is also how I have done similar transactions (and in-kind transfers to
a new broker). One thing to note is that this method will also create a new
price record in the price database. So I also go into the price editor and
remove that extra, invalid price.
