[GNC] how can I get the "note" column to show up in split sub-account

The only "Notes" column I know of is only on the Accounts tab - these
columns are displayed by using the Drop Down arrow on the far left of the
column header row, click once to show the available/displayed columns,
set/unset checkbox to display or not display the column in question.  Is
that what you are after ?
