I am using Windows 7.... Is there such a setting in WIN7? I haven’t been able to find it.

Another "workaround" is described in
https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=782850#c11
That "fixing of Windows" has only to be done once, not for each file.
Perhaps I should have sent you directly to that bug instead of ssending a link that again links there.
