Glenn & Kevin,

I just looked at the other file with Notepad and it looks identical, only the file name is different. This file is named "##.realfile.gnucash.gcm". So I'm not sure which file should be edited, sorry. Maybe someone else can shed a little insight.

Thank You,
Gyle McCollam

Glenn, Kevin,
Glenn, I followed your instructions and navigated to "C:\Users\#####\AppData\Roaming\GnuCash\books", but there wasn't a file "MyBook.gcm". There were 2 files and I used notepad to open "##.gnucash.gcm". When I scrolled through the file, I found a section called [Register 8c83614b6731620734164b18c3b0cf42], that hd the setting below which you had described.
date_width=109
num_width=70
reconcile_width=24
balance_width=96
transfer_width=357
debit_width=96
credit_width=96

Hopefully, this will help you Kevin.

Thank You,
Gyle McCollam

The register width on Windows are in:

C:\Users\#####\AppData\Roaming\GnuCash\books

Just find your "book" which will be in the format MyBook.gcm

You can change the numbers for date_width, num_width, etc. You actually
change everything *but* the description field, which takes up the rest of
the available width.

It'll look like this:
date_width=177
num_width=66
reconcile_width=239
balance_width=140
transfer_width=290
debit_width=116
credit_width=116
