[GNC] Problems upgrading to 4.8a

A bug (https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798672[1]) was opened reporting this
same issue, which prompted me to look at it again.
I think I have found the cause of the issue this time and added a fix to our source code. It
should be fixed for gnucash 4.13. If you can build for yourself from source, you could
apply this minor change:

Otherwise, you can monitor the bugs on the Ubuntu bug tracker (which the original poster
added to our own bug report mentioned above) and/or poke the package maintainers to
apply the fix earlier.
