A little history of "history"
ORIGINALLY with double entry bookkeeping you FIRST entered transactions
in a book called the "journal" and then these were "posted" into the
"ledger". Entries in the journal were in order of entry so THIS book
represented the history of transactions.
Now gnucash is a "virtual journal" system. The only time we even see
what a journal entry looks like is when entering a "split" transaction
(we are then in "journal view" mode) and we can ask gnucash to show all
transactions that way. But that's only one transaction, not a history of
them.
BUT -- gnucash does provide a report that will show the journal in
non-virtual form. It's been so many years since I began with gnucash
(and so explored what was available) I can;t remember the name of that
report. Can anybody help with the report name?
