[GNC] Is this a wacky idea?

I agree with Fred Bone's comments about the portable version. You might
be clicking on some ad-driven thing or maybe going far afield.

I think you are not getting to the right website to download portable
Gnucash. There is one site on SourceForge "brought to you by Rayven01
that seems pretty HINKY. It promotes a very old version of GNC, has no
reviews and no recent downloads. No way to know if this is where you are
getting your spammy dating site or monthly charges "offers" or not but
you surely have a problem somewhere along the line. If this is the SF
site you are on I would WALK AWAY!

It could be possible that you have a browser or host file problem
perhaps that is redirecting you somewhere bad?

re: Portable Apps -- on SF you can dl the actual PortableApps platform
which provides a launcher for lots of apps under the PortableApps
umbrella. I don't use it.

What I do use is the latest portable version is
GnuCashPortable_4.13.paf.exe which can be found at
https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/ and then navigate to the
Files tab then click gnucash portable (dated 2022-12-24) click then
navigate down the page to the PAF file you want.

As an option to using portable versions one can use Revo Uninstaller
which will uninstall a standard install of Gnucash reliably. Or I use
Revo Uninstaller Pro (paid) which will track an install and allow a very
thorough uninstall.
