Open the environment file in the GNC_CONF path (you can see it in Help - about)

insert the following
LANG=ms_MY

save it as environment.local

restart GNUCash and you will be able to see MYR as your base currency.

Subject: Re: [GNC] reporting currency

Reinstalling GnuCash won't change anything.

There are two default currency preferences, one for reports and the other for creating new accounts. They both work the same way: They offer the locale currency, which is set from the environment, or a combo box with a currency you select. In order to enable the combo box you must first select the Choose radio item.

Another option would be to change the environment so that the Locale currency is MYR. You can do that globally according to your OS or just for GnuCash, see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Locale_Settings.

Finally, remember that you can change the currency in report options for each report individually.
