A transaction in GnuCash involves (at least) two accounts.

I assume you want to import a csv file with several transactions related to your Checking 
Account #1. As the example you give doesn't have a column with this account name in it, 
that's probably what you want to set as your base account. Your csv example holds the other 
account related to the transaction: "Auto Repair". In the CSV importer that's known as the 
"Transfer account". You should be able to select that in the list with no issues.

Put differently: if your csv data has two account columns, one will be your "Account" and the 
other will be "Transfer Account". If you only have one account column, the whole csv file is 
assumed to go into one account. That account is what you have to set as base account. The 
column in your csv data will be the "Transfer Account" in this case.
