Since I don't know what you've set up in Gnucash for your particular
accounts, I'll just list the things done to get online quotes.
(A) Set up a security. This is the "definition" of the actual security,
the stuff that will be used by Gnucash to get quotes, via Perl's
Finance::Quote. Looking at the TSP quote retrieval module for Perl, I
see that the available symbols for TSP funds are C, F, G, I, S, and the
various "L" funds, like L2020, L2024, or whatever.
(B) So, an example would be a security for the common stock fund. I'd
create this security with the following:
Full Name -> TSP Common Stock Fund
Symbol/abbreviation -> C
Display symbol -> C
Namespace -> FUND
Check Get Online Quotes
Set Source to Single, scroll down to the TSP one you noted, US Govt
Thrift Savings Plan
(C) Now when you tell Gnucash to get quotes, it should retrieve the last
price for this fund, etc. It'll generate entries in the price database.
If you use the security by setting the Use Security/Currency field on an
account, that price will be used to calculate the current value of the
account.
