How do I invoice a customer which he pays with billable services for him?

I did a series of algebra tutoring sessions for a customer's child.
Part of his payment was to teach me skills in a different field.
My tutoring bill was $337.50, and his services valued at $275.00.
He paid cash for the difference at a later date.

Thanks for any help on this, I have already pulled out most of my hair....
