[GNC] Windows - no default currency on new install

I normally run Gnucash on Linux.
I am trying to help a friend who is on Microsoft Windows.
So, I am doing a new install on a Microsoft Windows system of mine.
I did a web search for "gnucash download"
On the page that came up, I picked the Windows download.
It appeared to have installed OK.
When I first start it, I took the defaults.
When it came to the Choose Currency screen,
I get what looks like a box with a down arrow next to it.
The down arrow is grayed out, so I cannot choose the
default currency for new accounts.  That seems wrong to me.
I assume it should be USD
