[GNC] New user error

Two questions:
1. What is "interactive mode," how does it differ from other modes, and where do I find the different modes?

2. While I understand reports have many options, and this discussion could quickly extend beyond the register view, if we (reasonably) keep it to the register, what's the difference between "Sort by" and select "Date of entry" versus the report?
