[GNC] New user error

I've been comparing and contrasting two options:

1. Reports -> Assets & Liabilities -> General Journal
2. Tools -> General Journal

If the second option is selected, which is the one I generally use, then sorting by date of entry puts the transactions in date order. The General Journal (option 2) is also subject to filters.

The General Journal Report (option 1) does not have any options, at least none that I've found, so it should include all data entry.
