Most likely the case ... I am not sure how XAU was determined to be a currency when in fact it is an Index. I suspect it is historical carried forward ...

Anyways, '^XAU' and 'GC=F' (or 'SI=F') will need to be added manually as attributes in the Currency namespace are not modifiable (at least I couldn't do so on Windows platform one) in the Security Editor.

But XAU no longer works with Alphavantage at least. GC=F (SI=F for
silver) works fine.
