[GNC] scheduled transactions no longer happen :(

Well you don't provide any information and we can't see your file but I
suggest you check your preferences initially ..

GnuCash Preferences >> Scheduled Transactions Since Last Run >> Run when
data file opened - is this checked on ?

Have you tried Action >> Scheduled Transactions >> Since Last Run ...  ??

Have you opened the scheduled transactions editor and sorted on "next
occur" column to see if any are due ???

Presumably there are some that are enabled ????
