This may be a foolish question, but, is does the computer on which you
are seeing this have an intel CPU or an Apple Silicon CPU?
Computers with Apple Silicon CPUs can run software compiled for intel
CPUs, but require the installation of Apple's Rosetta 2 software to do
so. Details at <https://support.apple.com/en-us/102527#needsrosetta>.
GnuCash 5.9 also has a version compiled for Apple Silicon, which does
not require Rosetta 2. That is what I use on my Mac, which has an Apple
Silicon CPU.
But if the computer you are using has an intel CPU, then this does not
apply, and I can't shed light on what you see.
