[GNC] Database backend for gnucash?

When one Saves As ..., there is a choice to save as: xml, sqlite3, postgres or mysql.

The back-end is simply "sqlite".  If you can get that installed, then you can open the gnucash.sqlite files directly and poke around in them. The flat structure is pretty simple, does not rely heavily on RDBMS.
