[GNC] Could not obtain the lock for **GnuCash-datafilestring**

As has been noted, it means that GnuCash thinks that another instance of
GnuCash still has the file open. This could be very dangerous unless you
KNOW that something happened -- such as GnuCash crashing, or Windows being
shut down while it was running.
Also, note, you didn't say which version of GnuCash you have. An earlier
version was leaving a windows process running that still had the lock,
causing this exact problem on Windows machines. Someone may remember which
version had this problem - it was a few versions back from the current
version.
If you shut down GnuCash, you can use your Task Manager to see if a process
is still running -- if it is, you probably have the earlier version with
the bug - it can be fixed by upgrading GnuCash. I would recommend the
current version.
I hope this helps.
