Hi Fred/John/GNUCash users,

A few basics:

Are you using the Flatpak or system package version of GNUCash?
https://flathub.org/apps/org.gnucash.GnuCash

Also, it looks like the current version of Fedora is 42 -

Correct, I do use trading accounts.

Just two splits: Income and Assets.

In Basic Ledger view, if I change the money amount and press Enter,
the system hangs. I can click on Cancel at the top and that resets
the money amount back.

If I do Show Splits and change one of the two values shown,
I then get a popup about currency conversion. I accept the default.
I then change the other value, and again get a popup about
currency conversion. I then do Enter and the changed transaction
is saved. Clicking on Save (of the file) does not get a popup
about an open transaction.

So, the problem is related to Basic ledger view.
