Opening figure shouldn't matter for reconciliation as long as closing figure and the closing date are correctly provided. You can reconcile up to any date (including going back to past) and reconcile to that date again and again as many times as needed.

I hate to admit that I'm having trouble with Gnucash. The program is good and I've been using it for several years now.
It should be almost impossible to reconcile a statement if the opening and closing figures don't match, but I have somehow managed it. However, this time my problems go back to August! I've "unreconciled" since the last true balance at the end of July but cannot pull up that last balance to jump into August.
I would greatly appreciate any advice you can give me.
