[GNC] Possible to Set and Save an Individual Register's Default Style?

Sounds like a Request For Enhancement. (RFE)

The current behavior might be by design, or an oversight, or maybe this 
has been worked on, but not finished, or reverted/abandoned for some reason.

Check Bugzilla to see if there's anything on it, then perhaps file an 
RFE if not.

Personally, I'd expect that setting to persist as an override of the 
default too, but I wouldn't necessarily classify not meeting that 
expectation as a 'bug'.
