[GNC] Removing old transactions

It somewhat begs the question of why there is no facility to remove old data, globally or in selected account subtrees, and replace it with a new opening balance in every account that now needs one (if the account is wiped out, it might just disappear?).  Of course, one might want more date depth of detail on investment accounts, if not stock prices, to help define basis.
