   What Doug said!
But I also use Fedora with no issues. Happy with both!

I am not sure which version of Mint you are using, but the Mint release
22.1 cinnamon that I am thinking of trying soon the software manager shows
a choice of either GnuCash system package release 5.5-1.2 or Flatpak 5.10
from the Mint installation iso. I seem to recall that 5.5 had a flaw that
some users might find problematic, but I don't remember what it was. If
5.5 doesn't work for you, you might be able to use GnuCash release 4.8 or
4.11, one of which would probably also be available since one or the other
of those releases are available for system package installation on other
recent Debian/Ubuntu based Linux OS's . I am currently using GnuCash 4.8
on Linux Lite 6.6 in a virtual machine.

Here is a bit of a left field answer: Why not try PCLinuxOS?

You can download a copy & install it on a bootable USB stick (or similar).
Once booted,
you can load GnuCash from the repository & try it. The current version in
the
repository is 5.10. Then if the W10 Gnucash file is readable, you could
consider becoming part of the PCLinuxOS family!
PCLinuxOS is a rolling release, so no need to completely reload very
often. I
am no accountant, but have been using Gnucash & PCLinuxos for a LOOOOONG
time
(15 Yrs +?) Love both. PCLinuxOS is well supported too: Monthly mag, VERY
helpful
forum, & very experienced developers.

i'm trying to move away from Microsoft so I've settled on Linux Mint.

I've been using Gnucash for several years now and it is absolutely the

best.

I have tried to move the .gnucash file to the Linux Mint version but the
file won't open. I receive a message that the Mint version is to old and
the windows file has unsupported features.

Windows version is 5.10

Mint version is 3.8

I tried to download the latest version of Gnucash using the Software
Manager but it appears that 3.8 is the current version.

I also looked at installing Gnucash from the Flatpack. I'm new to this
so I'm hesitent to try this.

i've tried Export/Import but that doesn't seem to work.

So my question is, how (what is the best/easiest way) do it move my
Gnucash data from W10 Gnucash version 5.10 to Mint Gnucash version 3.8?

Thanks

Sam
