[GNC] ANNOUNCE: GnuCash 5.12 Released, Flatpak delayed

Hi Dave & GnuCash users,  

As John covered the first question you had, I'll try the second.  

https://gnucash.org/download.phtml - the current version of GnuCash is
5.12, which was released in June 2025, about 1 year after the 5.8
version that you are using.  

You do not need to update GnuCash from 5.8 to the current version, 5.12,
but there is also no financial cost (GnuCash is open source software),
updating within versions doesn't take much time (some updating methods
are much quicker than others, depending on the operating system one is
using, the internet connection speeds one has access to, & the method of
updating used within the available operating systems) and most of the
updates to GnuCash are bug fixes, rather than major user interface
and/or design changes, which might take time to get used to.
