I see in the wiki <https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Website_Maintenance> this
has been discussed previously, and it mentions the static site generators
Hugo <https://gohugo.io/> and Jekyll <https://jekyllrb.com/> as possible
static CMS utilities.

Decap CMS <https://decapcms.org/> (or something like it?) might add the
extra level of separation needed, so any CMS executables might process the
source on the code server (or locally in the site author's computer or
browser?) and Decap CMS would update the content in github, which
ultimately gets pushed to the website.

(I have not used these tools myself, but I have been following the
discussion with interest.)
