It sounds like you have the GnuCash program, if it opens to a blank window.
What it sounds like is that it cannot find the data file where your records
are stored. Was that a local storage on your computer's hard drive? Was it
on an external drive? Was it on Dropbox? In the cloud somewhere?
If you *know* where your data file is, you can "Open" it from GnuCash.
GnuCash also keeps a list of the most recently used files, but if it can't
find it once, it asks if it should be removed... if you said yes, it won't
be in the MRU list.
If you don't know where you keep your data file, you will need to find it
(or, use a backup). The data file has a file extension of ".gnucash" -- the
file name is set by you.
GnuCash creates backup files that look like "<your file
name>.gnucash.<timestamp>.gnucash".
But finding your file would be better... did you, perhaps, accidentally
delete it? Have you looked in the trash can?
Others may have even more ideas.
