Murugan
It doesn't have to be a placeholder to be a parent, although that is the way I use them.

Thank You,

If it is not a place holder how is it adding up all 3 of your stock accounts?

Brokerage1 is not a placeholder.

Thanks, Morris

One possible cause of this issue is that you entered a transaction at the Brokerage 1 level and then changed the account to a placeholder. Check the details of the Brokerage1 account, uncheck the placeholder flag, then open the account and see if there are any transactions. Move them accordingly, as placeholders should not hold transactions.

GnuCash version 5.9

Build ID: 5.9+ (2024-09-23)

Accounts tree of Interest:

*Name * *Type * *Share price* *Shares held*

Asset Asset

    Investments Asset

        Brokerage1 Asset

            Stock1 Stock 0.31 1250

            Stock2 Stock 28.66 125

Stocks Total Value = $5896.60

Brokerage has one transaction: Opening Balance = $0.00

Accounts: Total in the Brokerage1 row shows $72,156.64 (expected $5896.60)

All my other “Accounts: Total” in other brokerages (6) have the

correct amounts in the Total column (sum of cash in brokerage +

values of subaccounts).

Recommendations to identify and correct the wrong value in Total column of
Brokerage1.

Thanks, Morris
