Well, within my lifetime, what we now call credit cards we charge cards 
which were expected to be paid off each month. In other words, not 
intended to be borrowed money as much as a "30 day net account" in 
business. << Most weren't general purpose; the VENDORS provided them, 
not banks. The idea was wife went shopping at the department store and 
hubby settled up each month. The closets to a modern credit card was 
"Diner's Club" in the sense that general -- but expected to settle up 
each month. Used because statements could be easily submitted for 
reimbursement >>

pay ant interest.

In any case, an account TYPE "credit card" has no special accounting 
meaning. It is simply an account of type liability where gnucash is 
allowing you to specify paying account, etc.

LOL -- we have what you describe over here (EZ Pass toll collection) 
except ours is like a debit card (you need to place funds with them in 
advance, but can link to a bank for auto replenishment. So for me an 
asset account that resembles a bank.
