[GNC] keyboard to register delay - lag

Hi, I am using Gnucash Version: 5.9, Build ID:
5.9+(2024-09-28), Finance::Quote: 1.65 to keep family accounts as default
XML files on a windows 11, surface 3 laptop
I have recently seen that in some of my .gnucash account files the response
is very slow -from keyboard to register. others files respond instantly.
The slow files aren't the biggest ones and do not differ substantially from
the faster ones in structure or content or preferences, settings etc. The
slow response is always with the same files.
Is this a virus problem? scans do not show any.
I have tried account repair but that did not solve the issue.
Is it a gnucash issue or is it a file and/or data issue?
I am lay user, so am hoping for a simple solution.
