Hi Dan.

That is a worry.  others have explained the lock file.  But I wonder if your 
data file is in some way corrupted and GC crashes trying to open the data file?  
What exactly do you mean by "nothing happens"?  Does the dialogue box asking 
about "open anyway" vanish after you click the button?

Firstly, I'd try and open the file from a local copy - ie not on the network - 
to eliminate file permissions problems and network issues.

If GC continues to be stubborn, I'd go and try a backup file from before the 
issue cropped up (both on the LAN and a local copy)
