As the subject says, when I go to Tools - Price Database, I see the Get
Quotes button greyed out.

I also notice that if I go to Tools - Security Editor, select a stock and
choose to edit it, the dialog that comes up has this message just under the
heading Quote Source Information: "Warning: Finance:Quote not installed
properly".

Searching for help online suggests I run, "Install Online Price Retrieval
for Gnucash" from the Gnucash menu option.

When I try that, the output ends like this:

Database was generated on Sat, 14 Mar 2026 01:09:17 GMT

Starting with version 2.29 of the cpan shell, a new download mechanism

is the default which exclusively uses cpan.org as the host to download

from. The configuration variable pushy_https can be used to (de)select

the new mechanism. Please read more about it and make your choice

between the old and the new mechanism by running

    o conf init pushy_https

Once you have done that and stored the config variable this dialog

will disappear.

Test2 is up to date (1.302219).

Finance::Quote is up to date (1.68).

JSON::Parse is up to date (0.62).

>> Installation succeeded <<

This seems to imply all is well but makes no difference. The message above
also implies that I should run a command, " o conf init pushy_https" but
does not say where. I am on Win11 and could run it in Powershell, a command
prompt, in Perl???

Help - About in Gnucash tells me:

Version: 5.14

Build ID: 5.14+(2025-12-20)

Finance::Quote:

I guess the fact that Finance:Quote has no version says something is wrong
despite what the install dialog reported.

It used to work and then broke about mid-November last year. Everything else
is fine.

Any suggestions about what I should try?

Best Regards,

John
