I would not consider it safe, if even possible, to open a 5.x file using
a 3.x version of GnuCash. I'm not saying you can't, but I'm pretty sure
bouncing back and forth two major versions is not supported.
Better to just dual-boot and migrate the usage of GnuCash to Linux with
a current Flatpak or at least v5.x repo version.
